Tesla owners lose access to many functions behind a touchscreen that requires looking away from the road. Greenmission AS wanted to give the driver back physical buttons, dials and shortcuts for the 30+ functions used most often, from climate and media to windscreen wipers and defrost.
The solution requires the interplay of hardware, firmware, a mobile app for setting configuration, and a stable integration against the Tesla official API. STUDIO X took responsibility for the entire software stack.
We built the software layer that binds hardware and car together, and an app that lets users customise the bar to their own driving style.
- Mobile app for iOS and Android where the user connects the bar, pairs it with the Tesla and sets up custom shortcuts
- Firmware on the device that translates physical button presses and dial turns into commands
- Tesla API integration for real-time control of climate, media, windscreen wipers and over 30 other functions
- OTA updates so new functionality can be rolled out to all devices automatically
- Bluetooth pairing with stable connection even when the car is parked
CTRL-BAR is now sold internationally and has received coverage in The Drive and other Tesla media. The driver gets back tactile control, while the car and app handle the communication in the background.
